The Returned & Services League of Australia (RSL) strongly supports the Australian judicial system and has confidence that it will thoroughly and fairly deal with the allegations of unlawful killings by Australian Special Forces soldiers in Afghanistan.  

The Cretan Association of South Australia and the Cretan Federation of Australia and New Zealand, will be commemorating the 85th Anniversary of the Battle of Crete with a Memorial Wreath-Laying Ceremony on Tuesday the 12th of May 2026 at the South Australian National War Memorial, North Terrace, Adelaide.

A new Coastal Command Memorial was dedicated on Monday 30th March 2026 on the Pathway of Honour, Adelaide. The memorial acknowledges the service and sacrifice of RAAF and RAF personnel during WW11, on many tasks over the North Atlantic, English Channel, North Sea and the Mediterranean.

The Australian Government has announced plans to divest 67 Defence estate sites. This decision was made without public consultation or stakeholder input.

The RSL called for a Senate inquiry so Australians can understand the reasons and the effect on future Defence readiness and capabilities.

The collective voices of the veteran, service, and broader communities have been heard, with a Senate Committee inquiry now announced.

The RSL categorically rejects the assertion by United States’ President Donald Trump that allied forces "stayed a little back, a little off the front lines" in Afghanistan.

This claim is factually wrong, historically ignorant, and deeply offensive to the 47 Australian service personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice, the 261 wounded, and the nearly 40,000 Australians who served in our nation's longest war.

RSL South Australia State President Brad Flaherty was pleased to present Australia Day certificates and medallions to five people for their exceptional service to the veteran community and RSL.

Congratulations to Jo Grotto, Jeff Yates OAM, Ash Muir, Mark Wheaton and Ron Green.

At midday on Australia Day, Monday 26th January, at the Torrens Parade Ground, Australian Defence Force gunners from 6/13 Battery fired a 21 Gun Salute to honour the day.
