AFGHANISTAN 25th ANNIVERSARY 10/10/26
A well attended Afghanistan 25th Anniversary Commemoration was held on Saturday 10th October at the Post WW2 Memorial, in fine Adelaide spring weather.
Guest speaker Corporal Dan Stanbrook, Enfield RSL President, delivered a heartfelt and personal address about the experiences of his tour of Afghanistan. Chaplain John Dansie, also an Afghanistan veteran, officiated, and the Australian Military Wives Choir Adelaide lead the singing of the National Anthem.
Tributes were placed in memory of the Fallen and those who served. View the Service Sheet here
Afterwards, guests attended The Combined Ex-Services Mess at the Torrens Parade Ground for refreshments, socialising and an RSL sponsored sausage sizzle.
This important milestone provided an opportunity to recognise and honour the thousands of Australian Defence Force personnel who served in Afghanistan between 2001 and 2021 through Operation SLIPPER (2001-2014) and Operation HIGHROAD (2015-2021).
