ILLUMINATE ADELAIDE 2026

Illuminate Adelaide is an annual, winter event in Adelaide’s streets, gardens and open spaces. It is a collection of visual, artistic displays and interactive experiences, some ticketed and some free: Illuminate Adelaide - Home

Each year an exhibition is held on the lawn in front of the South Australian War Memorial on North Terrace and a temporary toilet facility is also installed alongside. Organisers seek RSL SA approval ahead of the event and this is granted, as it is handled respectfully and benefits the community and visitors. Dates 29 June to 23 July include installation, exhibition and dismantling.

The 2026 exhibit near the memorial is Embrace, from3rd to 19th July. Inspired by the concept of paper chains, Embrace is a beautiful, interactive piece that invites patrons to hold the hands of glowing human figures. As more participants join hands, the experience intensifies where the lights and music become more vivid and dramatic. When the full circle finally connects, a spectacular sequence comes to life.
